Cowgirl Soccer falls in the Big 12 Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fifth-seeded Oklahoma State lost 5-0 to No. 4 seed BYU in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship on Saturday at CPKC Stadium.


With the defeat the 22ndndThe Cowgirls' ranking fell to 14-4-3, while BYU is now 9-5-5.


BYU took an early lead when Mika Krommenhoek found the net just 69 seconds into the game after a failed free throw led to a shot from 12 yards out.


Barely four minutes later, Krommenhoek would score again. Gordon shot a cross into the penalty area, but the ball landed right at Krommenhoek, who sank a shot from eight meters away at the far post and increased the final score to 2-0.


The Cougars made it 3-0 in the 22nd minutend minute when leading scorer Allie Fryer scored with her 10Th Goal of the season: He takes the ball from a defender and shoots it from the top corner of the penalty area to the near post.


Fryer would score a brace with her second goal in the 29th minuteTh minute, and BYU took advantage of the 4-0 halftime lead.


BYU extended its lead to 5-0 with a goal from Mackenzee Vance in the 48th minuteTh Minute.


OSU finished the game with a 13-11 advantage in shots, including five corners apiece, but the Cowgirls faced a suspension for the fifth time this season.


The Cowgirls now await their fate in the NCAA Championships. The 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on November 11th. The first round games will take place on campus from November 15th to 17th.
