Crazy stat that defines Crosby's longevity

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is about to begin his 20th NHL season. The league's 10th-best goalscorer is about to score his 600th goal and his 1,600th. to score a point.

As for his place in the hockey ranks, he is on pace to become the 70th* skater to play 20 seasons in the NHL, joining other active players in that category including Corey Perry, Alex Ovechkin and Ryan Suter.

The only two players who started their careers before the 37-year-old are Marc-Andre Fleury and Brent Burns, who are each entering their 21st seasons.

However, that's not the craziest statistic about Crosby's longevity.

Instead, of the soon-to-be 73 players who will skate across 20 seasons, Sid the Kid has either played with or against 37 of them, making up 50.6% of the roster.

It's fascinating to see the names of Crosby's old teammates and rivals and how many of them went on to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Here's a look at the list with the year they retired.

Incredibly, Crosby had the opportunity to share the ice with some of the game's best players, including several 600-goal scorers, Norris Trophy winners and multiple Stanley Cup winners.

He is also the NHL's second-leading scorer and the player with the most games played in league history.
