David Ortiz's moment with Yankee fans: As Red Sox fans continue to enjoy the 20th anniversary of the 2004 World Series team, they don't have to look far to see a few familiar faces on Fox's standard baseball broadcast.

David Ortiz, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are part of the network's standard lineup of pre- and postgame playoff experts. The friendship between the group is obviously notable given their history of competition against each other (including 2004).

But while their style is naturally friendly banter, Red Sox and Yankee fans are not so quick to put historic animosity behind them. New York fans underscored that point on Monday before Game 3 of the World Series (which the Dodgers won, taking a 3-0 lead), when the former Boston slugger drew loud cheers from the crowd.

“Daddy sucks, Daddy sucks,” shouted the Yankee fans.

Ortiz, who not only grew accustomed to New York's boos over the course of his career but eventually embraced the atmosphere, smiled broadly and cackled as the New York crowd serenaded him.

“Come on, man, show daddy some love,” Ortiz joked.

The Yankee boos for Ortiz are, whether New York fans admit it or not, ultimately a sign of respect for the former designated hitter. In 243 career games against the Yankees (not including the postseason), Ortiz hit .303 with 53 home runs (good for an OPS of .961).

In the postseason, Ortiz hit .333 in 14 games (the two seven-game series in 2003 and 2004) against the Yankees. During that time, he hit five home runs with 17 clutch RBIs. This included his consecutive walk-off hits in Games 4 and 5 of the 2004 ALCS.
