Dodger fans celebrate across Los Angeles, Southern California after winning the World Series

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Fans across the Southland were ecstatic Wednesday night as the Dodgers defeated the Yankees to win their eighth World Series title in franchise history.

In Los Angeles — on Whittier Boulevard in East LA, downtown, near Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park and more — several crowds gathered to celebrate the championship win.

The LAPD later issued an evacuation order in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Vin Scully Avenue, near Dodger Stadium, and at 9th Street and Flower Street. In East LA, authorities also declared an unlawful assembly and attempted to disperse crowds.

AIR7 was over the city, capturing fans in Dodger gear waving flags and taking over intersections.

Shortly after 11 p.m., mounted police and dozens of others in riot gear tried to clear a crowd near Broadway and 5th Street downtown.

Later, some people in the area were seen breaking into what appeared to be a Nike store and leaving with boxes of merchandise.

AIR7 also captured several cases of street takeovers involving donuts and car burnouts.

As the fireworks began to light up the night sky, other fans celebrated by lining up at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Pasadena to grab championship merchandise.

Meanwhile, part of the Hollywood sign was also illuminated in tribute to the Dodgers – it was just one of many LA landmarks that took on the Dodgers' blue color to celebrate the big win in Game 5.

Fans at Cosm in Inglewood erupted in cheers as the finale was taped. Up to 1,400 people packed the three-story venue to see the Boys in Blue on one of the city's largest screens.

“It didn’t look too good, but these Dodgers never give up,” said Canrado Guerrero of Lincoln Heights. “And we as fans never gave up either.”

There will be a parade on Friday to celebrate the Dodgers' championship victory.
