Duke Recruiting: Boozer Devils! – Duke Basketball Report

Duke won a major recruiting battle on Friday when the Boozer twins, Carlos and Cayden, chose the Blue Devils over Miami. Here is their engagement video.

Both are great prospects. Cameron is widely considered to be no worse than the second-best recruit in his class and is quite advanced for a 17-year-old. At 6-9 and 235 pounds, he has some natural upside. But of course he also benefited from being his father's son.

Carlos, who starred at Duke, was a two-time NBA All-Star and had a long and distinguished career. At Duke, he helped the Blue Devils win the national championship in 2001.

As for Cayden, at 6-4 (or 6-3, depending on where you read), he's obviously smaller than his brother. However, he has excellent court feel and appears to be developing into an elite point guard. We were really impressed with him from the videos we saw.

A great point guard can do things that no other player on the court can do, and by great we don't mean physical talent. We're talking about intellect.

The smartest point guard we ever saw at Duke was Tyus Jones. Bobby Hurley and Jon Scheyer weren't far behind.

And think about a guy like Cassius Winston, who was an outstanding leader at Michigan State. He didn't have much talent, but he could bend a team to his will and direct it like few college point guards have ever managed.

We're not putting young Boozer in that class yet, but could he carry a team?

Yes. We believe he has great potential.

There will be more later.
