ECISD celebrates National Principals Month by highlighting local principals

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Ector County Independent School District is celebrating Principals Month by highlighting its principals and some of the leadership pipeline programs the district has to offer.

“Great schools are led by great principals,” said ECISD Interim Superintendent Dr. Keeley Boyer. “The research is clear: the teacher has the greatest influence on student learning and the principal has the second greatest influence.”

ECISD said great principals are instructional leaders and mentors, effective communicators, relationship builders, human resources managers and budget directors, all while keeping students focused in everything. The district said continued learning and development is critical for current principals and aspiring principals.

The school district added that ECISD is a leader in talent development through various programs such as the Registered Apprenticeship Program for K-12 Principals, Principal Resident Program, Aspiring Principal Program, Advanced Teacher Leader Academy, Principal Incentive Allotment and more .

“Great leaders can take student achievement to new levels,” said Dr. Boyer. “The stronger our leaders, the stronger our school system is and the more our students benefit.”
