Election Security Updates: The FBI is aware of a fake news clip urging people not to vote

The supervisor of elections in Fulton County – the largest in the critically battleground state of Georgia – said Monday that they got off to a smooth start this morning, with all polling places opening on time and tens of thousands of voters casting their ballots, even though two polling places were down just briefly after one Series of bomb threats evacuated.

Elections chief Nadine Williams said the county received five “unbelievable” bomb threats that resulted in two polling stations being evacuated for about 30 minutes each. The district is working to get the hours of operation extended for these locations in court.

“All polling locations are secure with an active security presence,” Williams assured.

“Aside from these brief disruptions, Election Day was quiet with minimal issues reported,” she continued, “and we remain prepared to address any misinformation or further disruptions to ensure a smooth process for all voters today.”

Williams said 29,500 ballots had been cast in the county as of 9:40 a.m. this morning.

At the time the results were released, Williams said the 417,000 early voting votes, as well as mail-in ballots received by Monday, will be uploaded by 8 p.m. tonight.

As for the remaining locations, Williams said, assuming there are no long lines tonight, the memory cards with today's votes should be back at the main center, where they “hope we'll see the rest of the results before midnight.”

“As soon as (the memory cards) arrive, we will begin uploading them,” Williams said.
