Erling Haaland goal: Man City striker is celebrated after his acrobatic goal in the Champions League win against Sparta Prague

Words can't fully appreciate the athleticism and quality it took for Haaland to get the result, and even his teammates were impressed.

In his pitchside interview after the game, Foden told TNT Sports: “I was just talking to him and I said: 'If I tried that I'd pull my groin!'

“I don't know how he does it. It shows that he has this talent that no one else can.”

The goal was reminiscent of a goal Haaland scored against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League two years ago.

But that, brilliant as it was, was a volley he scored with his eyes on the net. His goal against Sparta Prague on Wednesday was when he was facing the wrong way but somehow managed to turn and generate enough power with his backheel volley to score.

“It was an incredible goal,” Nunes said. “After that shot I was speechless.

“When he scored against Dortmund, I was watching on TV. Seeing it live was incredible.”

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott said on TNT Sports: “It was a unique finish.”

“It's not a finish that many strikers would attempt or even execute. It’s unique to him and his athleticism.”

Former Manchester City defender and England captain Steph Houghton said in Match of the Day: “That finish was something different.”

“He is the only striker in the world who can score points in these positions.”
