F1 2024 United States Grand Prix LIVE: Sprint race standings, schedule and start time ahead of qualifying in Austin

Max Verstappen ended his winning streak, converting his pole position into victory in Saturday's sprint race in the US and extending his championship lead over Lando Norris by two points.

Verstappen led from start to finish and took the checkered flag 3.8 seconds ahead of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, who passed Norris on the final lap.

Norris remained third, one place ahead of Charles Leclerc. George Russell started second but only finished fifth.

Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in the other Mercedes.

SPRINT RACE REPORT: Max Verstappen ends his frustrating winless streak with a sprint victory at the US Grand Prix

Max Verstappen ended his winning streak, converting his pole position into victory in Saturday's sprint race in the US and extending his championship lead over Lando Norris by two points.

Verstappen led from start to finish and took the checkered flag 3.8 seconds ahead of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, who passed Norris on the final lap.

Norris remained third, one place ahead of Charles Leclerc. George Russell started second but only finished fifth. Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in the other Mercedes.

“Front tires, I spoke to Lewis after the race, he was out of rear tires – so we’re missing something.

“We have to master these tires, it's the first time we've driven with the medium tires.

“It’s just the sprint race.”

“It was fun fights, a good sprint. There was a lot going on and towards the end I had problems with the tires. We made it to the first corner, it was fun!

“It's encouraging to see that we have a chance tomorrow. Our car is not optimally positioned for qualifying.”

“It was a good race, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I thought I could take second place, my front tires were completely destroyed.

“Disappointing end but happy with the race result, good score.

“Today was a good start, good first corner. I did my best, we don’t have the pace of Max or the Ferraris.”

Carlos Sainz comes second while Lando Norris retains third place ahead of Charles Leclerc!

5-8: Russell, Hamilton, Magnussen, Hulkenberg

Norris and Leclerc were so close to touching in the last sector!

But a big win for Verstappen, who extends his lead in the championship from 52 to 54 points!
