Famous actress describes the pain of dealing with MS

Christina Applegate, one of the stars of the hit sitcom “Married… With Children” and also the “Anchorman” films, has given new insights into dealing with multiple sclerosis.

“I was lying in bed screaming,” Applegate, 52, said during her MesSy podcast with co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Jamie and I have different – ​​everyone has a different way of showing it. I lay in bed screaming. Like the stabbing pain, the pain, that pressing.”

Applegate described her symptoms in conversation with Sigler and Rory Kandel, a California bakery owner. Both Sigler and Kandel also have MS.

“Sometimes I can't even pick up my phone because it's now gotten into my hands, so I try to grab my phone or my remote to turn on the TV, or sometimes I can't even hold them. I can’t open bottles now,” Applegate said, the New York Post reports.

Applegate was diagnosed with MS in 2021 while filming the final season of the Netflix series Dead to Me. She believes she may have had the disease for years before she was diagnosed.

The Mayo Clinic website states that MS causes a breakdown of the nerves' protective covering. You may experience numbness, weakness, difficulty walking, vision problems, and other symptoms. There is no cure, but there are treatments that can help relieve symptoms and speed recovery from attacks.

Applegate says that sometimes, depending on her pain level, she stays in bed the whole time. She said the floor sometimes feels like “lava” when she tries to get out of bed.

“But it’s so damn painful and so hard and so uncomfortable,” she said.

She appeared in several TV shows and films, including one of her biggest roles as Veronica Corningstone opposite Will Ferrell in the 2004 film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
