The first day of weather alert has been issued for Wednesday morning for the mountains and Thursday morning for everyone as we are expected to feel the coldest air of the season so far.

On Wednesday morning, temperatures are expected to be around 40°C in the north of the state and mid-30°C in the mountains. Not only are temperatures in the mountains not far from freezing, but with breezes expected it could feel even colder – wind chill values ​​may be in the upper 20s to low 30s. This is a cause for concern for people in the area, especially those who still do not have electricity.

Wake-up temperatures Thursday are still expected to be in the low to mid 30s in the mountains and fall to the mid to upper 30s in the hinterland. This brings concerns for pets and plants. Measures to be taken on Wednesday include: bringing sensitive plants indoors or covering them with a burlap bag and taking pets outside.

A disturbance brings the possibility of precipitation on the TN/NC line, potentially allowing a few light rain or possibly snow showers in the higher elevations.
