Five teams from the Holland region heading to the playoffs: who will be there?

Five teams from the Holland region are headed to the playoffs, while one narrowly missed out on making the playoffs.

The MHSAA football playoff pairings were announced on Sunday, officially adding Zeeland West, Zeeland East, Holland Christian, Hamilton and Saugatuck to the playoffs.

The five-team total is the second-highest in the region's history – and Holland was two places away from an equal six-team qualification.

Zeeland West (8-1) had the fourth-highest playoff score in Division 3 with an average of 67.917.

Zeeland East (5-4) had the 21st highest total score in Division 3 with 50.889.

The Dux will receive the Chix in the first round.

Holland finished 5-4 and had an average of 39.986, the 34th best average in Division 3, leaving the Dutch just two places away from the playoffs despite their excellent turnaround.

In Division 4, Holland Christian (6-3) had the 25th best scoring average at 48.778.

The Maroons will play at Grand Rapids South Christian.

Hamilton (5-4) was 31st with 44.556 and made it into the playoffs with one at-large spot.

The Hawkeyes face top-ranked Hudsonville Unity Christian.

In Division 8, Saugatuck (6-3) had the 15th-best playoff score with 33,000.

The Trailblazers play at White Pigeon in the first round.
