The Philadelphia Flyers announced their 23-man active opening day roster today, according to general manager Daniel Brière.

The active squad consists of 14 strikers, seven defensemen and two goalkeepers.

Sean Couturier begins his first full season as captain of the Flyers since being appointed on February 14, 2024. Scott Laughton will serve as alternate captain for the third consecutive season, while Travis Konecny ​​begins his first full season as alternate captain. All three players were drafted and have spent their entire careers with the Flyers.

Matvei Michkov and Jett Luchanko are in the season opener and are starting their rookie seasons. Michkov was drafted seventh overall by the Flyers in 2023, while Luchanko was selected last summer as the Flyers' 2024 first-round pick, 13th overall. Both are expected to make their National Hockey League debut, and for Luchanko, he would be the youngest player in Flyers history to make his NHL debut.
