Former NFL star blasts Saints' Derek Carr after team's top wide receiver gets injured

Former New Orleans Saints star Michael Thomas cheered on quarterback Derek Carr on Sunday as the team played the Carolina Panthers to end a six-game losing streak.

One of Carr's passes in the first quarter went over wide receiver Chris Olave's head. But it was Olave who paid the price. The wide receiver was smashed between two Panthers defenders and fell to the ground. He left the game with a concussion.

It sparked criticism from Thomas.

“Dude, you're scared and panicked and you just throw the ball. Get him out of here, he's such a–,” Thomas wrote. “The guy tried to lie and say I was jealous that they made Chris the WR1 all along, he can't even get him a decent ball.

“They fired all these coaches to cover up his mistakes so he keeps doing the same crap.”

The Saints got off to a 2-0 start after wins over the Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. But injuries forced New Orleans to slow down, and they found themselves on a six-game losing streak.

Carr's game on Sunday was the first he has participated in since Oct. 7, when he left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Olave also played in his second game since suffering a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
