Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett calls on Israel to take action against Iran – Israel News

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in an interview with Sky News on Thursday that Israel must do everything in its power to overthrow the Iranian regime and prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

In the interview, Bennett emphasized that while he distinguishes between the Iranian people and their regime, “everything should be on the table” when it comes to Israel's actions.

Bennett acknowledged that Israel may not have the strength to overthrow the entire regime, but assured that Israel could certainly strike and cause significant damage.

He pointed out that never before had a country been attacked by as many rockets as Israel recently.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is not a regular regime; it is a regime of terror,” he said. “We shouldn’t take anything off the table, including targeting their leader.”

Asked what he would advise at the recent Cabinet meeting, Bennett recommended attacking Iran's nuclear facilities and sending more missiles, saying that Iran is in the most advanced phase of its history in terms of nuclear development.

“They have enough uranium for ten nuclear bombs. “Israel should not be afraid to strike back,” he said.

In response to suggestions that Israel should respond appropriately to Iranian attacks, reflecting the situation Israel faced, Bennett rejected the idea. He explained that a “proportionate” response from Israel would entail terrible acts that Israel would not commit.

Instead, he emphasized the need to focus on eliminating Iran's nuclear program and combating its regime.

Response to the war in Gaza and Hezbollah

Addressing the reported death toll in Gaza and international criticism of the way Israel has handled the conflict, Bennett placed responsibility for the civilian deaths squarely on Hamas.

“They do not care about their own people and have repeatedly used civilians as human shields,” he said.

“Hamas is the murderer, not Israel. Israel is waging war on behalf of the world against the world's most fanatical jihadist ideology. We fight Iran on behalf of the world. If Iran acquires a nuclear weapon, Europe will be in danger.” The world should praise Israel, not criticize it.”

Regarding Israel's attacks on Hezbollah leaders and the resulting deaths and displacements in Lebanon, Bennett recalled that Israel was attacked on October 7, with Hamas terrorists killing over 1,200 innocent people and kidnapping 250 others, including women and children .

He noted that Hezbollah had openly supported Hamas' actions. “The world should ask themselves why they are doing this and not criticize Israel. If we let them get away with it, they will do the same in Britain, New York and Paris. Israel is waging your war,” he stated.

When asked how he thinks Israel should respond to Iranian missile attacks, Bennett reiterated that Israel should attack the Iranian regime's nuclear program and centers. “The ultimate strategy that I think the world should pursue is to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon,” he said.

He stressed that the world should focus on two efforts: accelerating the fall of the Iranian regime while slowing the development of its nuclear weapons.
