FOX analyst torments Mets fans on NLDS broadcast: 'Just to cause a little more trauma'

In a season full of good vibes and OMGs, FOX is doing its best to remind New York Mets fans of more depressing days.

At least that's what many fans believe after FOX added Adam Wainwright to its broadcast of the NL Division Series between the Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, which began Saturday. Wainwright, the former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, is best remembered by Mets fans for ending their 2006 NLCS season with a strikeout against Carlos Beltrán in Game 7.

With the bases loaded with the Mets, Wainwright, then a rookie closer, used his vintage curveball to strike out Beltrán on three pitches to send the Cardinals to the World Series, which St. Louis ultimately won.

Here are some reactions from fans to X:

Adam Wainwright on the phone for that Mets postseason game…you know, just to cause a little more trauma

Adam Wainwright calls a Mets playoff game. I don't love that

Why is Adam Wainwright Is that what you call? I was hoping to never hear that name again when he retired. #LGM

Adam Wainwright on the phone for the Mets game is absolutely (expletive)

Absolutely not I listen to Adam Wainwright call every Mets game, let alone a playoff game. Honestly, it doesn't matter who's calling the game on TV. I have @HowieRose #LGM
