Game time, TV set for Georgia in Texas

Georgia and Texas face a top-five clash on October 19 in Austin that will almost certainly take place under the lights. The SEC announced Monday that kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised by ABC.

Texas is currently 5-0 this season and is ranked No. 1 nationally. Georgia is ranked No. 5 nationally with a record of 4-1. This loss came nine days ago at Alabama and was the Bulldogs' first loss in the regular season since 2020.

This is the first time the two teams will face each other since January 1, 2019. The Bulldogs and Longhorns competed in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, with Texas winning 28-21 under then-head coach Tom Hermann. The program is now led by former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian.

The Longhorns are 4-1 all-time against Georgia. In addition to that win over UGA in 2019, Texas prevailed in three pre-1960 meetings between the two teams. One of those games was the 1949 Orange Bowl. The two teams also played in Atlanta in 1957 and Austin in 1958. Georgia's only win came in the 1984 Cotton Bowl.

Texas faces arch-rival Oklahoma this weekend in the Red River Shootout/Rivalry. The Longhorns are the heavy favorites, but they also lost this game last season before ultimately making it to the four-team College Football Playoff. This game will be played in Dallas.

Georgia hosts Mississippi State, a 1-4 team that challenged Texas a few weekends ago. The Longhorns were without starting quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is expected back for Georgia.
