Game updates, college football live scores

COLUMBIA, S.C. – For the first time this season, Ole Miss football is heading into a game after a loss.

The no. 12 Rebels (4-1, 0-1 SEC) play South Carolina (3-1, 1-1 SEC) today at Williams-Brice Stadium (2:30 p.m., ESPN). Ole Miss is looking to bounce back from its surprising home loss to Kentucky. The Gamecocks' edge rushing attack will challenge the Rebels' high-powered offense, which struggled last week.

Coach Lane Kiffin said he wasn't panicking after his team fell 1-0 in conference play. He'll need a big day from quarterback Jaxson Dart, the nation's leading passer, to tie the Rebels' record in conference play.

Ole Miss vs. South Carolina results updates

The Rebels could hardly imagine a better start. Although LaNorris Sellers started the game as the Gamecocks' quarterback, backup Robby Ashford came into the game for one snap. Things went badly. He stormed into the middle, but the ball slipped out of his hands. Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen jumped on it, giving Ole Miss another possession.

Ole Miss running back Henry Parrish entered the game questionable but made a good impression early on. He gives Ole Miss an early lead with some power rushing.

The first bold step didn't work. South Carolina attempted a fake punt on 4th-and-1 from its 36-yard line. The Gamecocks attempted a direct snap-dive play, but it was aborted to no avail.

The leader of Ole Miss' backfield is warming up this season. Parrish, who is listed as a game-time decision, is dressed for the game. He appears to be moving around without any visible impairment. Parrish has 489 yards and eight touchdowns on 70 carries this season.

Two key South Carolina players warm up on the field before the game. Details here.

Ole Miss vs South Carolina Predictions

Ole Miss 28, South Carolina 24: The Rebels are not the perfect team they were in the first four games of the season. While last week was a reality check, it also felt like the Ole Miss floor. Look for Dart to play better against the Gamecocks, especially in the third period where Ole Miss converted on just 10% of chances last week.
