Geoff Neal defeats Rafael Dos Anjos, knee injury ends UFC 308 fight

Geoff Neal is back in the win column.

After back-to-back losses to the division's best, Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry, Neal would win another notable name in Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. It would be a one-way street for “Handz of Steel” Neal as he would find a home for his punches at the start of his fight at welterweight.

Neal pushed forward and worked behind the jab, with both men exchanging leg kicks. In the first minute, Neal landed a left punch on Dos Anjos that took down the former lightweight champion.

Neal lands follow-up punches on the floor and decides to get Dos Anjos back to his feet. Neal then takes Dos Anjos to the ground and holds him there for a few seconds before getting back to his feet.

Neal fires off a left hand and Dos Anjos falls backwards to the canvas – not from the punch, but from an apparent knee injury, prompting the referee to stop the fight.

Official result: Geoff Neal defeats Rafael Dos Anjos by TKO (knee injury) in round 1 (1:30)
