Guilherme Vasconcelos, former UFC and Bellator fighter, dies at age 38

Guilherme Vasconcelos, a mixed martial arts fighter who competed in the UFC and Bellator, has died, his family said Wednesday. He was 38.

The cause of Vasconcelos' death was unclear. MMA Junkie reported Tuesday that he posted a photo outside a gym 24 hours before his death was announced.

“We were looking forward to your visit at Christmas, which will no longer take place. Life is fleeting and we woke up to this devastating news. What a time we live in,” Vasconcelos’ uncle wrote in a post on Facebook, according to TMZ Sports.

The Brazilian native competed for several companies before making his debut at Bellator 157 in June 2016. In his first two Bellator fights, he defeated Jordan Dowdy and John Mercurio before suffering a series of losses.

He last fought in Bellator in October 2019.

Vasconcelos made one appearance in the UFC when he fought Luke Zachrich on the UFC 175 card in July 2014. He lost via unanimous decision and no longer fought for the company.

As an MMA pro, he was 10-6.

Vasconcelos was also in the celebrity world for a brief moment. In 2017, he briefly dated pop star Demi Lovato. After a few months they separated.
