ESPN's Afternoon Edition of Sports center will be from Charlotte's campus TODAYwith host Matt Barrie as host 14 o'clock in the campus area between the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Services, south of the Popp-Martin Student Union.

Students, fans and guests are encouraged to watch the show from the quad with their best 49ers spirit on display in the background. Members of the 49ers cheer squad, Norm the Niner and the band will also be in attendance.

  • Charlotte is entering its second season under head coach Biff Poggiwho was named the program's third head coach on November 15, 2022.
  • Tulane is currently receiving votes in this week's polls, leaving the 49ers with four opponents on the 2024 schedule so far that are either ranked or receiving votes in the polls. It will be the third straight game in which Charlotte faces a ranked team.
  • In eight games (3-5 overall), the combined record of the five opponents the 49ers have defeated is 31-8 (.795).
  • A win against Tulane would give Charlotte at least four wins on the season for the first time since 2021. Charlotte has posted three to nine straight seasons in 2022 and 2023.
  • The 49ers will host ESPN on Thursday night for the first time in program history. The show appeared regularly on the ESPN family of networks, but only once (Bahamas Bowl, 2019) did the show appear on the network's flagship station.
  • Charlotte has played on Halloween twice: Marshall, 2015 (L, 10-34) and Duke, 2020 (L, 19-53). The 49ers have a 3-2 all-time record in Thursday games.
  • BY COMMITTEE: Charlotte started three different quarterbacks in the first eight games this season and played multiple quarterbacks for significant snaps in five games.
  • RETURNING STARS: The 49ers return very few starters from last season's roster, but the returning roster is littered with star power. Defensive back Dontae Balfour was named preseason All-AAC by Phil Steele and Athlon, as was return specialist/running back Henry Rutledge. Tight end Colin Weberwho served as the starter last season, became the first tight end in program history to lead the team in receptions. End of the rush Stone practical Earned preseason second-team honors from Phil Steele and moved to linebacker Prince Wallace Bemah who received the third team award.
  • FACTS ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Charlotte 49ers Football is entering its 12th year of existence and 10th year at the FBS level. The 49ers football program began in 2013 and spent two years as an FCS Independent before taking the fast track to FBS in 2015 as a member of Conference USA. CLT joined the AAC in 2023. In 2019, Charlotte experienced its first successful season and participated in its first bowl game: 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.
  • Newbies, newbies, newbies: Charlotte is on the top turnover roster in the country in 2024. There are 71 freshmen on the roster in every position group, ranking behind only Army (74) and North Texas (77) among total freshmen between their 2023 and 2024 rosters. The 49ers are tied with Colorado (44) for the most transfer additions in the country.
