Hamas reacts to Trump's victory, saying he must “seriously work to end the war in Gaza.”

The Palestinian terror group Hamas said on Wednesday that the new administration of presidential election winner Donald Trump must “seriously work to end the war” in the Gaza Strip.

The statement came after a report emerged claiming that Trump had asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resolve the dispute by his inauguration on January 20 if he had won the election. Trump ultimately prevailed over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Hamas said: “Given the initial results showing Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election,” they believe he must “listen to the voices that have been raised by the US public for more than a year regarding the ( Israeli)”. Aggression in the Gaza Strip.

The new Trump administration must “work earnestly to end the war of genocide and aggression against our Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, to stop the aggression against the brotherly Lebanese people, to stop the military support and political cover for the Zionist entity “and to recognize the legitimate rights of our people,” Hamas added.

Hamas also said that the “new US administration must recognize that our Palestinian people will continue to resist the hateful.” (Israeli) occupation and will not accept any path that compromises their legitimate rights to freedom, independence, self-determination and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

A Times of Israel source said Trump initially conveyed the message of an end to the war to Netanyahu when the Israeli leader visited him at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, in July.

The Biden-Harris administration has largely supported Israel, although the White House has opposed recent military operations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In October, President Biden called for a ceasefire shortly before Israel launched military operations in Lebanon.
