Harris says Trump's harsh comments about Liz Cheney are 'disqualifying'

Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday called former President Trump's harsh comments about Liz Cheney “disqualifying” and accused him of increasing his “violent rhetoric.”

“He has increased his violent rhetoric against political opponents – Donald Trump – and suggested in great detail that guns should be pointed at former Rep. Liz Cheney,” Harris told reporters at a news conference after leaving Air Force Two in Wisconsin. “That has to be disqualifying. Anyone who wants to be President of the United States and uses this type of violent rhetoric is clearly disqualified and unfit to be President.”

She called Cheney, who supported Harris and campaigned with her, a “true patriot who has shown extraordinary courage by putting country above party.” But Trump is increasingly someone who sees his political opponents as enemies and is constantly out for revenge and is becoming increasingly unstable and out of control.”

Calling Cheney a “radical war hawk” at an event in Arizona on Thursday, Trump said: “Let's have them stand there with a gun and shoot them with nine barrels, okay?” Let's see how she feels about it. Do you know when?” The guns are pointed at her face. They're all war hawks when they sit in a nice building in Washington and say, “Oh, man, let's send 10,000 soldiers into the mouths of the enemy,” but she's stupid “I always had meetings with a lot of people and she always wanted to go to war with people.”

Trump's comments immediately sparked a backlash on the left as some clips online did not convey the full context of his remarks.

Harris told a reporter who asked if she was worried about Cheney's safety that she had not spoken to the former Wyoming congresswoman since Trump's comments: “But I know Liz Cheney well enough to know she's tough.” , she is brave and has shown what she says.” She is convinced that she is a true patriot in a very difficult time in our country, where, as you can see, we are seeing this kind of rhetoric that is violent in nature is where we see this spirit coming out in Donald Trump that is so full of violence and desire for revenge and retaliation.

Trump clarified his Cheney comments Wednesday afternoon on Truth Social, writing, “All I say about Liz Cheney is that she's a warmonger, and a stupid one at that, but she wouldn't have the courage to fight.” It's easy for her to talk when she's sitting far away from the death scenes, but when she picks up a gun and makes them fight, she'll say, “No, thanks!” Her father has the Middle East and other places decimated and became rich as a result. He caused a lot of DEATH and probably never thought about the fact that we want to run our country.
