Scott Tranter, data science team lead at Decision Desk HQ, said they were able to win North Carolina for Trump because they saw similar trends when Trump won the state four years ago.

“What we've seen in North Carolina is a resurgence in the 2020 voter turnout that brought the state back to Donald Trump in 2020, particularly in rural areas,” he said. “And we have enough votes in the suburbs around Mecklenburg, in Charlotte and Raleigh. He is achieving his election goals and that is why we can call it.”

Election officials dispute claims by Trump that fraud is occurring in Philadelphia, a Democratic stronghold.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said, “There is no factual basis within law enforcement to support this wild claim.”

Trump also warned that tough law enforcement was “coming” in Detroit, another Democratic stronghold.

In response, the Michigan Secretary of State's Office said: “We don't know what the former president is talking about. This appears to be a fairly transparent attempt to incite fear and suppress voter turnout.”

Polling stations have begun to close in numerous states located in the Eastern time zone. These include Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia. Florida has some counties in the central time zone that stay open for an hour.

Polls have begun to close in parts of Kentucky and Indiana. Both states lie between the Eastern and Central time zones. Polls will close only for counties in the Eastern Time Zone. In the central time zone they will remain open for the next hour.

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris urged every single supporter to get out and vote before the polls closed on Tuesday.

Trump, who cast his vote in Palm Beach, Florida, told reporters he was “very confident” heading into election night.

He also posted a video on social media in which he said: “Tonight we will have a great victory.”

Meanwhile, Harris made a stop at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. and spoke by phone with voters.

She also spent the day conducting interviews with radio stations in key contested states.

Harris voted on Sunday, sending her ballot to her home state of California.

The two candidates have planned watch parties for Tuesday evening. Harris will follow the election results at her alma mater, Howard University. Trump will host his watch party at a convention center in Palm Beach.
