'Heartstopper' Season 3 arrives with a perfect 100% critic score

One of Netflix's most acclaimed original series is back, a new entry in the top 10 list and one with perfect results. That would be “Heartstopper”, whose third season has now started and which is currently receiving a perfect 100% from the critics.

Overall, the series has achieved an impressive 98% in critics' ratings and 96% in audience ratings across three seasons, which, when you add those two numbers together, makes it one of the network's highest-rated series, a real hit with both critics and viewers at the audience. And maintaining these numbers across all three seasons is something you don't see on any show, aside from a few. As a reminder, here's what Heartstopper is about:

“The story of two British teenagers, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, at an all-boys high school. Charlie, an excitable, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, have to sit in class together one day. Their friendship quickly develops into something more for the openly gay Charlie, but at first he doesn't think he has a chance with Nick, but love works in surprising ways and Nick becomes more interested in Charlie than either of them thought. Heartstopper is about love, friendship and loyalty. It encompasses all the little stories from Nick and Charlie’s lives that come together to make something bigger.”

Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke's careers blossomed as a result of the series. Locke currently plays a supporting role in the MCU series Agatha All Along, which I saw last night, and will likely play a larger role in the Marvel Universe. Kit Connor sang in the star film “The Wild Robot” and can currently be seen with Rachel Zegler in “Romeo and Juliet” on Broadway. Believe it or not, I'm seeing this play on Saturday, so between Agatha, this and Heartstopper, I'm really getting a full dose of these two over the course of a few days.

Heartstopper was initially a somewhat unlikely sequel for Netflix as viewership for the first season wasn't particularly high, but the low-budget series was hugely well-received and both were enough to save it. Now the third season is underway with consistently enthusiastic reviews. It's not clear at this point how long the show will last, especially as the stars get busier, but it could come to a natural conclusion here. For now, it's time for Season 3 and from the sounds of it, it should be excellent.
