Hey, Cleveland, Nick Chubb plans to pay you back for everything you gave him, starting with his return on Sunday

Here is the final part of Chubb's essay, which begins after he was taken in the first round of the 2018 draft:

I had to go to bed that night not knowing who would call my name.

The next morning I came to practice at the high school and Mike Worthington was on the phone… and we've already established that Mike Worthington is a little crazy… so he comes up to me and shows me his phone. He has ESPN online.

It is the draft order.

He points to No. 35.

He just says, “Man, if they call you tonight, Don't pick up the phone.”

He points directly to the Browns logo.

Remember, the Browns had just reached zero and 16. Zero and 16. I didn't hate the Browns, but all I'm saying is that you didn't exactly pick on them Drive crazy. Those were the dark days.

Of course, we're all back at the Buffalo Wild Wings that night and a few minutes into the second round I get a call.

I see that my caller ID says “Cleveland, OH.”

I'm going deaf.

To be honest, I can't even really remember what the coaches said to me because my family was all jumping up and down and screaming and I could barely hear anything.

I look at the televisions and see the legend, the GOAT, Jim Brown, step to the podium to announce the Browns' pick.

Still can't hear anything. Everyone is going crazy…

Then I see my name flash on the screen.

RB NICK CHUBB – GEORGIA.

Cleveland, OH.

That was the best call I've ever received.

I turned to my mom and said, “You know, as soon as I get a few of these NFL checks, I'm going to retire you, right?”

The Browns changed my life that night, but more importantly, they changed my family's life.

Now I think you understand what I mean when I tell you it was me meant for this city. I've been trying to work my ass off every day to get us where we need to be, and even though we've gotten really close, I feel like I have some serious unfinished business. That's why the downfall last season hurt me so much. We were Only start cooking……

I can't stop until I prove to everyone that I'm the hands-down best running back in this league, and I definitely can't stop until we get the Browns back to the top of the AFC. It's been a damn long time. Thank God I'm healed.

Thank God I can continue playing this great game.
