How Patriots could help Texans after crushing Stefon Diggs injury

The Texans have lost one of their best players and team leaders, and the New England Patriots should be called to help them.

Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL last Sunday and will miss the rest of the season. Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans was visibly distraught as he revealed the news to reporters on Tuesday, showing how important Diggs was to the locker room even in his first season with the team.

The Texans were a Super Bowl favorite in the preseason, but with Diggs out and Nico Collins sidelined until at least Week 10, Tank Dell is their No. 1 wide receiver. That reality and CJ Stroud's rookie contract window prompted Dan Graziano to leave ESPN identified Houston as a potential active player in the trade market.

“And I hear a rumble as they poke at the receiver. (Darius) Slayton, Kendrick Bourne and KJ Osborn are names to keep an eye on and I think they would be happy to join Jakobi Meyers if the (Las Vegas) Raiders made him available,” Graziano wrote on Wednesday.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Tuesday that New England has received “calls” regarding Osborn and Tyquan Thornton, so it appears it will make another trade after sending Joshua Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Osborn has been vocal about his lack of playing time and appears poised to get a deal before the trade deadline. And it would be in the Patriots' best interest to seek out teams like the Texans that need help at key positions.
