Far from the team that won three games in a row, the Red Wings have restored fans' hopes of making the playoffs. Since then, the team has lost its last three games with its offense falling by the wayside. Detroit continues to be outmatched by its opponents, losing Wednesday night's contest 29-21 to the Winnipeg Jets on its way to a 6-2 loss.

If the Wings want to turn things around, they have to play with inspiration. After the winning streak, the team seems to have everything taken care of. Even in Sunday's overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit allowed Edmonton's best players to do whatever they wanted as they rallied late.

Now they're going up against a Sabers team that's in a similar boat – and one that's expected to improve after a string of lackluster seasons with a mix of young talent and seasoned veterans. However, despite three straight wins over the last month, they have shown little sign of being a playoff contender.

Buffalo won the first game of the four-game regular season series against Detroit. The Sabers' 5-3 win last Saturday kicked off the Red Wings' three-game season.
