Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine is aiming to add a few more gold awards to its already colossal box office success this year's awards season.

Looking to replicate the success of the 2016 original, Disney is determined to bring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's multiverse spectacle into competition with major awards shows. Shawn Levy's billion-dollar summer blockbuster is up for consideration at the Golden Globes in the Comedy category, with Reynolds' performance as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, vying for one of six spots in the Actor (Comedy or Musical) category. The film also received awards from major industry organizations, including the Directors Guild of America for First-Time Director, the Writers Guild of America for Adapted Screenplay, and the Producers Guild of America for Best Picture. He co-wrote the screenplay with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zeb Wells. Coincidentally, Levy received his first Oscar nomination as a producer the same year as the first Deadpool, but for Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi drama Arrival. Feige received his Oscar nomination as producer of the box office hit “Black Panther” (2018), which went on to take home three statuettes, including historic wins for Black artists Hannah Beachler (production design) and Ruth E. Carter (costume design). ).

One of the most accomplished actors of his generation, Jackman has an impressive track record on his resume. With a Tony Award for “The Boy from Oz,” an Emmy for hosting the 58th Tonys, a Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination for “Les Misérables” (2012), and a Grammy for the soundtrack “The Greatest Showman.” Jackman is no stranger to awards. While superhero films don't typically dominate at the Oscars, Globes and SAG voters haven't shied away from embracing genre performances, with previous nominees like Globe nominee Tom Cruise in “Tropic Thunder” (2008) and the SAG Nominee Javier Bardem in “Skyfall”. (2012).

Deadpool & Wolverine also features an ensemble cast including Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford and Matthew Macfadyen.
