Insider addresses Pittsburgh Steelers and DK Metcalf rumors

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers have added another name to their list of possible wide receiver targets: Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf.

The dynamic wide receiver was sidelined by a knee injury in Week 9 against the Rams, and the Steelers were in the market for “anyone and anyone” receiver, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

However, Schefter believes Metcalf will not become a Pittsburgh Steeler.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, co-host Tone Digz asked him about the possibility of trading.

“That's an example of a curveball that I don't expect… I haven't heard anything about DK Metcalf. This is the first time I’ve heard of it,” Schefter said.

Therefore, it is unlikely that the Steelers will sign any significant talent by the trade deadline. The Steelers have faced off against a lot of big names this season, including Brandon Aiyuk and Davante Adams, but seem determined to make an impact before they run out of time.

While it was widely believed that the area was one of the weakest early in the season, the Steelers don't rank in the bottom five in passing yards this season.

The Steelers also made excellent use of their tight ends, as Darnell Washington and Pat Friermuth both moved the ball down the field effectively. With Jaylen Warren, Najee Harris and Cordarrelle Patterson excelling on the floor, the Steelers' offense appears to be trending in the right direction for the first time since Ben Roethlisberger's retirement.

The Steelers have a tough schedule ahead of them for the remainder of the season with all of their division opponents still remaining. It will be quite a test for the Steelers' depth, especially at the wide receiver position.
