Interesting injury update for Jordan Burch

Interesting injury update for Jordan Burch

There have been rumors this week about a possible injury that could derail the Oregon football defense against Ohio State on Saturday night.

There were rumors that star defender Jordan Burch suffered an injury during practice that may have resulted in him having to be carried off the field. Social media has been ablaze all week as the rumor continued to gain momentum and Duck fans were ready to hit the panic button.

And the panic was justified. Burch is arguably the team's most important defender and best passer, and losing him would be detrimental to that side of the ball.

Nothing was confirmed or denied all week, but there were discussions on the forum suggesting that the Burch injury was exaggerated and that the stretcher was simply a precautionary measure.

And then Scott Reed, a Ducks reporter for Rivals, said:

In a response to an Oregon fan, Reed said Oregon was keeping things pretty tight-lipped and the fact that the “exaggerated” news about the stretcher leaked at all caused some anger among the Ducks' coaching staff.

That's pretty much how I feel about Jordan Burch. It feels like he will play and that the injury was likely followed by major precautions and he will probably get some rest.

I won't say one player will be a game-changer unless it's Dillon Gabriel or Will Howard, but the Ducks would feel Burch's absence greatly.

This is certainly an important update, but we'll see if he takes the field on Saturday night.
