Iran signals missile expansion and is capable of producing nuclear weapons

“We now have the technical capabilities necessary to produce nuclear weapons,” Kamal Kharrazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council for Foreign Relations, told a pro-Iranian broadcaster Al Mayadeen on Friday, suggesting that Iran's nuclear doctrine could change if the country faced an existential threat.

He added that Iran would respond to Israel's retaliatory attack in due course and said Tehran would likely increase the firing range of its ballistic missiles.

Iran ready to escalate?

“We are ready for war, but we do not want escalation because we have currently demonstrated our ability to deter it,” he claimed. “The matter is up to the Israelis – if they really want to continue, we will respond to them. Our missile capabilities are clear to everyone and everyone believes in them, and we have proven that in our operations.”

He continued talking Al Mayadeen that “Israel’s prevention of UNRWA’s delivery of water and food to the besieged population of Gaza represents the height of hostility to human values.”

He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran would also increase cooperation with Russia, saying that “Russia and China are trying to build a new international system to be free from the hegemony and authority of the West.”
