Is Pat Sajak a Dodgers fan? Why the former “Wheel of Fortune” host is behind home plate at the World Series

The former Wheel of Fortune host has a lot of time to travel now that he's retired from television, and his most recent trip took him from Los Angeles to New York.

Days after Sajak was spotted in the crowd at Dodger Stadium for Game 1 of the World Series, the longtime game show host was seen behind home plate at Yankee Stadium for Game 5 as New York attempted to take the series to Los Angeles to push back.

Sajak is an avid sports fan, but will he compete for either team in this year's star-studded Fall Classic?

Here's what you need to know about Sajak's keen interest in the 2024 World Series.

Is Pat Sajak a Dodgers fan?

While Sajak has kept his baseball fan base relatively quiet, he said in 2017 that he was a Dodgers fan despite supporting the Cubs as a child.

The game show host is often seen at Dodger Stadium, and apparently it's not just because of how convenient the location is for him. Sajak told Fox 26 Houston's Mark Berman at the 2017 World Series that he was a Dodgers fan, explaining, “I grew up a Cubs fan in Chicago. When they didn't make it for 100 years, I said, 'That's enough,'” and I moved on.

Well, the Cubs finally climbed back to the top, winning the World Series in 2016 — but Sajak called himself a Dodgers fan in 2017, so he didn't let that change his mind.

Sajak is an all-around baseball fan and revealed in 2002 that he also has a soft spot for the White Sox and Orioles. Even as the Dodgers battled the Astros in the 2017 World Series, Sajak said, “It's hard for a part of you not to root for (Houston).”

What's clear is that Sajak has never been a Yankees fan, so he appears to be standing behind home plate at Yankee Stadium cheering on the Dodgers as they try to storm back and prevent the series from extending to a sixth game .

Sajak mocked those who noticed him sitting behind home plate in the Bronx, tweeting, “I noticed I was trending. I thought I died.”

If the Yankees retain the World Series and send it back to Los Angeles, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Sajak back in familiar territory at Dodger Stadium for Game 6.

Where is Pat Sajak from?

Sajak was born and raised in Chicago, but had a home in Maryland for many years and lives in Los Angeles, which explains his fondness for the Orioles and Dodgers.

How old is Pat Sajak?

Sajak may be retired, but he remains active in his post-“Wheel of Fortune” life. Why shouldn't he? He just turned 78 on October 26th and is still in good health.

Sajak has had a major health scare in recent years, as he underwent emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage in 2019 and was forced to take time off from the show. However, he recovered without problems and retired on his terms last June.
