“It was horrible” – Dana White launches angry tirade at UFC 307 judges over comparisons to boxing

Dana White commented on the jury at UFC 307.

It was a busy night of action as Alex Pereira took on Khalil Rountree in the main event and stopped him to routinely defend his light heavyweight title.

UFC legends Jose Aldo and Carla Esparza were two of the biggest talking points, however, as they both suffered controversial defeats on the judges' scorecard.

First, White was asked about the overall rating that night, to which he replied, “I thought the rating was terrible tonight.”

“I felt like I was at a boxing match in Ireland tonight.”

The UFC boss was then asked about the Esparza decision, to which he replied: “I thought the judging was horrible tonight, I'll leave it at that.”

He was then asked if he was surprised by the decision that Aldo was on the winning side against Mario Bautista.

Bautista used his wrestling to get the win despite not landing a takedown, and the referee failed on several occasions to prevent some delays in clinches against the fence.

And delivering his verdict, White added: “I always think the referee should be more active in this regard. One hundred percent.”

“Especially when someone keeps doing it to stall. If you judge a man, whether it's control, whether it's this or that, if you don't try to fight, then how do you win the fight?”

“And when it comes to attempted takedowns, how about suppressing the takedowns? Just crazy.”

“When you notice that the guy definitely doesn't want to stand and strike, but just wants to stand against the fence, yes, the referee, that's his job.

“You should see it. If they see it happening all the time and the guy isn’t trying to win the fight, then you keep trying to break them up.”

After losing to Tecia Pennington, Esparza burst into tears as she decided to retire at the age of 36.

It was a devastating blow that will bring her a sad end, even though she left an incredible legacy in MMA.

Meanwhile, it was a similarly damaging result for Aldo, but it looks like he will fight on.

The Brazilian struggled throughout the fight to break through tactics that many considered illegal at times.

McGregor was equally outraged at his office's treatment of his former rival, responding: “A dirty decision…”

“Rogan said the judges didn’t even look. That was Jose's story. Bulls*** decision.”

“He just said he shot in just to have him pinned against the fence.

“That's not good enough. The referees have to intervene here. This sport is the sport of the fans.”

“Remember that and act accordingly, referee, thank you very much.”

He then added: “As a referee, I would note the position on a clock if the fighters kept going to the same stand.”

“And every time they end up there, the time gets shorter.”
