The 2027 Champions League final will not be played in an Italian stadium after San Siro was stripped of its rights and the Stadio Olimpico withdrew.

One of the biggest games in the football calendar was scheduled to take place in May 2027 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

However, the hosting rights have been revoked due to ongoing uncertainty over the arena's status, with Milan and Inter back in negotiations to build a new stadium in the current venue's car park.

Against this background and given the possible work in progress, UEFA was unable to obtain the necessary guarantees from the local authorities to broadcast the final to them.

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome had been suggested as a possible replacement, but UEFA confirmed today that this has been withdrawn.

Instead, the 2027 Champions League final will be played at either the Stadio Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid or the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan.

The host will be confirmed until May 2025.
