Ja Morant's latest injury status for the Grizzlies-Bulls

Ja Morant's latest injury status for the Grizzlies-Bulls

The Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls play a game Monday night at FedExForum. Both teams had several names on the injury report heading into this game, but none were bigger than star point guard Ja Morant.

Morant, who was listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic because of right thigh soreness, played 25 minutes in the 124-111 win. The Grizzlies again listed Morant as questionable for Monday's game against the Bulls, but this time his status was downgraded before publication.

Via Grizzlies PR: “Status update: Ja Morant and John Konchar are playing tonight vs. @chicagobulls.”

Morant only played nine games last season. The star point guard was suspended for the first 25 games due to his videotaped shooting incidents, but then returned for nine games before suffering a shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery.

While Morant didn't seem to have any issues with his shoulder early in the season, he suffered an ankle injury in the preseason and now, just a few games into the regular season, this hamstring issue. The Grizzlies are trying to make the playoffs in a very competitive Western Conference, and they need a healthy Morant to do that.

In his three games to start the new season, Morant averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game.
