Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence on the evolution of the Jaguars roster ahead of the trade deadline

“Walker made all the plays and snaps during the week,” Pederson said. “We felt that it was best for the five offensive linemen – actually the eight who would be suiting up for this game – that Cam would step in as the backup tackle as soon as he was free.”

Little has started 18 games in three seasons for the Jaguars, starting the last three games at left tackle in 2022 when Robinson was injured and starting there when Robinson was suspended for four games at the start of the 2023 season. He has also played right tackle and guard during his NFL career, with 14 career starts at left tackle and four at guard.

“It's obviously a great opportunity to go out there and be able to play some meaningful football against the really good teams that we have,” Little said. “It’s exciting and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Pederson said Little seemed more comfortable at tackle than at guard.

“The space element of tackling is one thing,” Pederson said. “Guardian, you don’t necessarily have to move that far and there are a lot more bodies around you. His size is good for guard, but I think it suits him better personally as a tackle.”

Pederson and Lawrence spoke Wednesday about having a lot of confidence in Little, with Pederson saying, “We feel great about him.”

“He was here,” Pederson said. “He has worn many roles for us. He played inside, he played outside. He played both tackle spots. I think after the first part of the game (against the Packers) he settled in really well. Things and we have a lot of confidence going forward.

“There is still a lot of season ahead of us but it is a great opportunity for him to take advantage of it. It would just be a great opportunity and we’ll see where it goes.”

Lawrence said: “Walker did a great job. I am happy about this opportunity for him. He played great when he had opportunities. He was put in difficult situations and had to play in many different positions. He did.” was prepared for his opportunities and that’s not easy when you’re not the full-time employee.

“We have all the confidence in the world in Walker and I’m happy for him.”

Also on Wednesday, Pederson said veteran Cole Van Lanen will likely be the swing tackle going forward. Van Lanen, who came into the squad with a strong training camp and preseason, was inactive for the first eight games of the season.
