Jazz HC Will Hardy shares his thoughts after the preseason win over the Mavericks

The Utah Jazz managed to take care of business in the third of their six preseason games as they narrowly defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-102, continuing their unbeaten streak to open their preliminary meetings.

The game was led by Lauri Markkanen for the Jazz, who posted his best of the preseason with 26 points and seven rebounds, while Utah also had some worthwhile performances from other veterans like Jordan Clarkson (13 points, four rebounds) and John Collins ( 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists). It may only be pre-season, but this team is starting to get off on the right foot.

After the competition, Jazz head coach Will Hardy took the podium to share some of his insights, ultimately expressing the optimism on both sides.

“I thought from the third preseason game onwards that the team played pretty well,” Hardy said. “I feel like we’re getting better and more connected on both sides. Of course, the end of the game was chaotic for various reasons, but our team and staff can learn a lot from it. I think.” “For the most part I'm happy with the performance on both sides, especially the defense.”

The Jazz began to sputter towards the end of this game as they were outscored 15-22 by the Mavericks in the fourth quarter and shot 19% overall from the field, but still maintained the lead and took home the win.

“On offense, the intent to share the ball was good,” Hardy continued. “Obviously we have to clean up the decision making a little bit with 20 turnovers for 30 points, but overall I think it was probably a pretty good three quarters and eight minutes? We have a few weeks to improve here before the premiere.”

The Jazz will continue their preseason on Saturday when they take on the San Antonio Spurs – likely without the services of Keyonte George.
