With star receiver Tee Higgins sidelined with a quadriceps injury, the Cincinnati Bengals were prepared to highlight rookie third-round receiver Jermaine Burton in their game plan for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Instead, he may have broken all her trust in a difficult situation.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bengals made Burton a late, healthy scratch on Sunday after he missed Saturday's crucial final pass. It goes without saying that if your team is already counting on you to show up and perform, you can't miss training without a good excuse.

In response, Burton didn't show much maturity. He showed up at the Bengals' stadium still in his pajamas and seemingly acted as if nothing had happened:

The Bengals are 3-5 and have virtually no room for error if they want to make the playoffs. The last thing they could afford was a young player who took no responsibility for his job and his mistakes. As a result, Burton may have cost himself a lot more than just a simple healthy scratch for one game.
