Jets Pro Bowler lashes out at Bill Belichick after coach's criticism

Despite only playing for the New York Jet for one game, it didn't take long for Haason Reddick to find himself at odds with Bill Belichick.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday afternoon, Belichick was critical of Reddick's pass-rush discipline, pointing out that it was a catalyst for first downs that both Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett picked up with their legs.

“Reddick came in and ran past the quarterback multiple times, whether it was Maye or Jacoby, and created these scramble lanes that the Patriots took advantage of,” Belichick said. “Big win for them.”

That didn't sit well with Reddick, who posted about the former Patriots coach on social media Monday night.

“Yeah, someone call Bill Belichick and give him a job. Seems like he's bored at home and can't keep me out of his mouth,” Reddick wrote, before becoming more explicit.

After lasting the first seven weeks of New York's season following a trade from Philadelphia, Reddick made his long-awaited debut against the Patriots and recorded three pressures in 26 defensive snaps. After the loss, Reddick was asked if he felt at all responsible for the Jets' slow start to the season.

“Responsible for what? No, I don’t feel responsible,” Reddick told reporters. “Do I wish that some things were different, that things turned out differently? But like I said, I'm here now. We took an L today. The only thing I'm worried about now is: What can I do to get better? What can I do to get fully up to speed? That way, I’ll be the best version of myself come Thursday.”

In Sunday's 25-22 loss, Belichick was not only critical of Reddick, but also of New York's entire operation.

“Tough day for the Jets. “Used all the timeouts in the first quarter, missed the PAT and the scrambles,” Belichick said. “Maye ran more than he threw. The Jets just made a lot of mistakes and that’s what killed them in the end.”
