ESPN's Shams Charania added some context, saying the push came from Embiid because of a recent column written by a local media member. References to family members were included, which led Embiid to act the way he did.

And there was an earlier tweet from Pompey that said Embiid hit a reporter, but quickly deleted it and turned it into a jab. Charania also confirmed this and said it was just a push.

“The 76ers' Joel Embiid got into an altercation with a columnist after tonight's game in Philadelphia,” Charania said on No Punch.”

There were certainly questions about his constant injuries and inability to play, which led to him getting heated odds on Friday.

“If I see people say, 'He doesn't want to play,' then I've done way too much for this city and put myself at risk of people saying that,” Embiid said. “I think it's nonsense. Like that guy, he’s not here Marcus, I’ve done way too much for this damn city to be treated like that.”
