John Amos, the popular Emmy-nominated actor who rose to fame playing the family patriarch Good timeshas died. He was 84 years old.




According to TMZ, Amos died of natural causes in Los Angeles on August 21, but his death was just announced by his son, Kelly Christopher Amos. No further details were revealed about the nature of Amos' death, although the actor's son issued a statement to confirm the news while expressing that he knows his father's legacy “will live on” in his absence ” becomes.

“It is with deep sadness that I inform you that my father has made the transition,” the statement read in part. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved around the world.
