Kamala Harris “has the IQ of a fence post”

Kamala Harris has clearly proven to be the most popular presidential candidate among entertainment talent this election, with recent campaign appearances from Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Julia Roberts and Spike Lee. But Donald Trump can now count a new Hollywood name among his supporters: Mel Gibson. In a new video published by TMZ on Thursday evening, Gibson gave a brief interview to a cameraman while heading toward TSA at an airport.

“I don’t think it will surprise anyone who I choose,” Gibson said. After some thought, the cameraman replies: “I’m guessing Trump.” Is that a bad guess?”

“I think that’s a pretty good guess,” Gibson replied. “I know what it will be like if we let them in. And that's not good. Dismal track record. No guidelines to speak of. She has the IQ of a fence post.”

Gibson, one of the most sought-after major actors of the late 20th century and Oscar-winning director of “Braveheart,” hasn't been the most vocal political figure in the press in recent years, although he has been known to salute former President Trump near a UFC match in 2021. The actor's swipe at Harris reflects a frequent line of attack against Harris by Trump, who has been fond of calling her a “low IQ” candidate in recent campaign appearances.

Earlier this year, Trump expressed his own love for Gibson on his social media platform Truth Social, sharing a meme with images of a clean-cut Gibson and the actor's more battle-hardened look in “Braveheart” with the caption, “I'm voting for it.” Trump” in 2016 and 2024, respectively. He added: “Either way, Mel Gibson is great!”

After enjoying box office successes such as “The Passion of the Christ” and “Apocalypto,” Gibson largely withdrew from the industry for several years after he was arrested for drunk driving in 2006 and was found to have launched an anti-Semitic tirade. Leaked tapes from 2010 documented further racist comments from Gibson, including the use of slurs, toward his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. She later claimed he physically abused her.

Since this break, Gibson has continued to work regularly as an actor. He made his prestigious comeback in 2016 with the war drama “Hacksaw Ridge,” which earned him an Oscar nomination for directing as well as Best Picture and Best Actor awards for lead actor Andrew Garfield.
