WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Humidity is higher this week, making us feel warmer every night. Today we will see a few more clouds every now and then, still mostly sunny to partly cloudy at times. With this humidity we can also see an isolated shower developing. We have a southwest wind 5 to 10 mph and a warmer high of 80 degrees.

Tonight will be even warmer, with some clouds and a light breeze, bringing Knoxville down to 59 degrees. Winds will increase in the higher elevations this evening, so you'll want to secure outdoor decorations before bed this evening.

The look forward

Winds will increase Thursday, with gusts around 20 mph at times in the valley and closer to 30 mph in our higher elevations. Make sure the Halloween decorations are safe, especially the inflatables! First Alert's Halloween forecast is still warm, with a high of 78 degrees and cooling to around 70 degrees by 8 p.m. for trick-or-treaters.

Currently, showers will reach the plateau as early as Thursday evening, but the front itself will move into a lot of rain through Friday morning. We start the day with 60% coverage of our area with light to moderate rain and isolated periods of heavier rain. This will keep us cooler at 69 degrees, with lingering clouds and spotty showers from the afternoon into the evening.

This weekend temperatures will rise back to above average temperatures and it will remain mostly dry as we expect isolated showers in the mountains on Saturday and Sunday. With daylight saving time ending on Sunday at 2 a.m., we also get β€œan hour of sleep back.” This weekend it's still around 50 degrees in the morning and around 76 degrees in the afternoon.

Your First Alert 8-Day Planner has us prepared for early next week, but we're keeping an eye out for another front coming our way later in the week.
