Levi D. Frye Obituary 2024

NH Fish & Game Conservation Officer Levi Frye, 30, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2024.

Levi was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was a passionate friend and brother. He loved his family more than words could express and made sure they always had what they needed, no matter what they sacrificed.

Levi was a graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School. He then graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology. While at UMaine, he was a member of the varsity cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams. During this time he also met the love of his life: Shannon. Before graduating from university, Levi completed a professional hunter internship in Botswana and South Africa. He was proud of the time he spent in Africa and hoped to return one day.

Levi graduated from the 175th NH Police Academy at the top of his class academically. He was sworn in as a conservation officer in 2018, patrolling Hillsborough County and later moving to Coos County. He was a member of the Advanced Search and Rescue and Honor Guard teams. He was a firearms instructor, field training officer and physical agility testing administrator. Levi was also a member of the Conservation Officers Relief Association (CORA), whose mission supports conscientious objectors and their families. He was considered an incredibly patient, knowledgeable and resourceful asset to these teams. He has been involved in dozens of advanced search and rescue missions where his insight and understanding of the process resulted in positive results, bringing closure to many family members of the patients he worked with.

Levi received many awards during his seven years as a conservation officer, including an NH Congressional Law Enforcement Award and was named the 2023 NECLECA Officer of the Year. Levi would no doubt have described his achievements as mere fulfillment of my work. He was always humble in his pursuit of becoming the best conservation officer he could be. His commitment to protecting New Hampshire's wildlife laws never wavered. He was passionate about protecting NH's natural resources and ensuring that future generations can participate in hunting and fishing for many years to come. Levi's professionalism, kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on those he met. He made each case his mission and persistently pursued fair conclusions. He worked with tenacity and determination to ensure that he represented his agency as a first-class public servant. He was the epitome of preparedness and organization. Although serious by nature, his empathy and calm demeanor helped alleviate the most critical situations a person could find themselves in.

Levi was an avid nature lover. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working outside and simply being present in nature. Levi had a natural connection with animals and was excited to share the living world with his son. Levi enjoyed traveling and exploring destinations around the world. He celebrated occasions with cigars, and many fellow officers fondly remember enjoying one with him after a strenuous mission or a job well done.

A memorial service with law enforcement honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Bellevue Barn at Carlisle Place, 685 Presidential Highway, Jefferson, NH. There are no public consultation hours.
