Light rain and drizzle in the morning, but sunshine returns to the Pittsburgh area this afternoon

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – You can say goodbye to rain and clouds and hello to sunshine starting this afternoon when the sun returns at 3 p.m

For some it will be sooner. The sun won't do much to warm us up as today's high and tomorrow's low are both the coolest of the week.

Although we will be dry this afternoon, lingering showers and drizzle are expected during the morning commute. There won't be much and the rain will mostly fall along a cool front pushing through. Winds behind the front are not expected to be too strong, just from the northwest at around 5-10 mph. Rainfall amounts will be either trace or just 0.01 inches.

Cloud cover will keep temperatures around 60 this morning, with our daytime low reaching just before midnight. Due to the cool air mass, highs will only fall into the mid 60s, even with sunshine.

Expect the day to start with fog on Thursday and temperatures to drop to 40°C and even 30°C in some isolated spots. Highs will reach the mid-70s Thursday afternoon and stay in the 70s through the weekend.

Things will get interesting on Sunday evening as another cool fall front moves through, bringing with it the chance of some decent rain showers.

Currently, the data suggests we can expect up to four-tenths of an inch of rain during and leading up to the game. Game time temperatures should be in the low 70s. It can get windy in the fourth quarter.

Sunday evening's front will bring dropping temperatures Monday, with highs in the 60s at midnight and temperatures in the low 50s and perhaps even 40s just before midnight Tuesday.
