Lincoln Project as a counter-program to Trump's fascist rally at MSG

Lincoln Project as a counter-program to Trump's fascist rally at MSG

October 25, 2024 —As Trump re-enacts the infamous 1939 Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden in NYC, the Lincoln Project will strike back with a town hall featuring a high-profile panel of authoritarianism experts and on-the-ground action.

Locally, the Lincoln Project will have promotional vans circling the event. A truck will troll the “Dads, Brads and Chads” with music from Taylor Swift that supports inclusion, women, girl power and the LGBTQ+ community. LP is hoping to convert some supporters, or at least drive them crazy with our favorite badass human rights rock star.

On the other hand, a selection of ads are shown reminding people of the great danger that threatens America if Trump is re-elected. These ads – Near Miss, It Can't Happen Here, Bloodlines and Never Again – draw a direct line between Trump's inflammatory rhetoric and the dangerous rhetoric of other notorious dictators throughout history.

The trucks start at 2 p.m.

Online LP is hosting a counter-program in the form of a virtual town hall: “A Night in the Garden: Trump’s Fascist Final Message.” Distinguished speakers include:

  • Stuart Stevens, senior advisor to the Lincoln Project

  • Dr. Jennifer Mercieca, professor of communications and journalism at Texas A&M University

  • Ruth Ben-Ghiat, professor of history at New York University

  • Dr. Deborah Cohen, Director of the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs at Northwestern University

  • Dr. Peter Simi, professor of sociology at Chapman University

The town hall begins at 7 p.m. and can be followed online Here.

The Lincoln Project is a leading pro-democracy organization in the United States dedicated to preserving, protecting and defending democracy.
