Tuesday is Election Day, which means you need to go to the correct polling location to ensure your ballot is counted.

Early voting in Tennessee allows registered voters to cast their ballot at any designated early voting location in their county. But early voting ended last week, and come Tuesday you'll want to know where your polling place is.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. in Shelby County and Memphis

Voters who wait in line until 7 p.m. can stay in line until they can cast their vote, as long as they are at the correct polling station.

Where is my polling place in Memphis, Tennessee?

On election day, votes must be cast in your assigned voting district. You can search for your precinct on a map on the Shelby County Election Commission website or search for your polling place on the Tennessee Secretary of State's GoVoteTN website.

What do I need to bring to vote in Tennessee?

If you vote on Election Day, you must bring a valid ID.

Any of the following IDs can be used, even if expired:

  • A driver's license issued by the state of Tennessee with your photo
  • United States passport
  • Photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
  • Photo ID issued by the federal or state government of Tennessee
  • US military photo ID
  • Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo

If you forget your ID, you can still request a provisional ballot, which will give you the opportunity to present ID at the Board of Elections office two days after Election Day, where you will sign an affidavit and have a copy of your photo ID verified by the Counting Board can, according to Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett's website.
