Mariah Carey says “Not yet” to Christmas time

The Queen of Christmas has spoken – it's not Christmas time yet.

Mariah Carey shared a video of herself on a private jet on Instagram on Wednesday (October 2) as her song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” begins to play in the background. “This is your pilot speaking. Welcome aboard, Mariah. “We’re on our way to the North Pole,” the plane’s captain can be heard saying over the speakers, before a record scratching sound interrupts the festive mood.

“Not yet!” Carey calls. “Sorry! You always rush me.”

Carey usually waits until Halloween is over to publish her annual “It's Time” post in honor of the start of the holiday season. Her iconic 1994 holiday song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for the first time in 2019 and has since become the most popular Christmas song of all time on the Billboard Holiday 100 list.

While it's not quite time to hang up the mistletoe and holly just yet, Carey announced in August that her annual Christmas Time tour would return in 2024. According to a press release, the tour will be Carey's “greatest spectacle yet” in celebration of the 30th anniversary of her 1994 album Merry Christmaswhich debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200. The release also hinted that the tour was just the “first of many surprises” Carey has planned this year.

The 20-day run begins Nov. 6 in Highland, Calif., and makes stops in Los Angeles, Atlanta, DC, Boston and more before concluding in New York City on Dec. 17 at Barclay's Arena in Brooklyn.

In the meantime, watch Carey scare away the holiday season below.
