With Providence Park hosting at BC Place due to scheduling conflicts, the ninth-seeded Timbers will receive home-field advantage against the eighth-seeded Whitecaps in the Western Conference Wild Card Game of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs. In a single elimination game, the winner of Wednesday's match will face Los Angeles FC in the first round (October 25th to November 10th).

If Vancouver and Portland remain tied at the end of the 90 minutes, there will be a penalty shootout to decide who advances. There is no extension.

After a strong start to the season that saw them lose just two of their first 10 games in 2024, Vancouver endured a true roller coaster of a season.
